DIEGO CRUZ

            Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 24, 1987, as Andre’ Thomas Sweet, also known as Diego Cruz, grew up in the small town rough streets of Ferris, Texas (just outside of the city of Dallas). Since his childhood days, Cruz major musical influences have included but are not limited to such artists as Eminem, Lil’ Wayne, Dipset, Cassidy, Fall Out Boy, Kanye West, Fabolous, and Gym Class Heroes. He feels that not only has listening to various styles of music help shape the artist he has become today it has also shaped his personal urban skater boy style.

Cruz began rhyming in the 7^th grade, he has taken his lunchroom rhymes and grown and developed his own unique sound. His diverse interest in different musical styles has allowed him to merge the best of Hip-hop, Pop, Rap, Rock, Alternative, Country, and R&B Soul to a sound that speaks to the masses. Cruz describes his music “as a day in the life, the ups and downs, good and bad, the lifestyles and stories of [himself] and the people close to [him] and [his] lyrics are [his] outlet.” His lyrical content speaks about his struggles and triumphs with the legal system, relationships, family, and friends. He also has his lighter side which basks in the enjoyment of being young, enjoying life, partying, and he even finds himself slipping into that easy feel good groove.  His music portrays the person Cruz truly is, never trying to imitate or be someone he’s not, he always strives to show through his music how humble, cool, and fun-going he sincerely is day in and day out.

           

Cruz’s first unreleased single, “Fresh an Fly”, is his pride and joy, and only desires to grow from that point onward and upward. He has since then been on several neighborhood mixtapes such as Party Life featuring 240, Bacc 2tha Streets featuring Mr. Street, Well Connected Well Respected featuring 45 South Records, and several others. He has been the Champion of Dallas’ 97.9 The Beat Friday Night Freestyle Battle over 12 times. He has also performed live at several local clubs, car shows, and festivals.

Along with his musical talents he has a passion for acting and modeling; making Diego Cruz a triple threat to his competitors and the industry. When Cruz is not immersed into his music he enjoys skateboarding, which became a very serious hobby for him in 2009. Cruz defines success as when a person is able to turn his/her passion into their living. Diego Cruz’s music and entertainment inspires life, brings him life by running through his veins, music and entertainment is his life; therefore entertaining the world is all he will ever do.

Cruz is definitely on the path to making to true statement and mark on the Urban Hip-Hop scene. His sound reaches across generation, race, and gender divides. It is his distinctive edgy, vibrant, and youthfulness sound that makes him stand out amongst the rest.
